Samsung LN-S4692D Review

This Samsung 46 inch LCD is the first out of the three 46 inch models that Samsung has in their inventory. Samsung did a smart way a presenting 3 different 46 inch models with different options to fit the consumers budget. All three present an amazing picture but it will depend on the bells and whistles you want with the Samsung. The Samsung LN-S4692D presents a nice entry level to purchase a 46 inch monitor. The major difference between this model and the LN-4695 and LN-4696 is the 1080P resolution. Do you need it? Well, it depends if you are enthusiast and want that extra resolution. Some consumers will not notice the difference. You have to get a source, such as blue ray player and stand close to the screen to see the actual difference.

The Samsung 4692D has a nice black gloss bezel. In my opinion very sharp looking. The only problem is there is a reflection coming off the black gloss. Not a big deal.
Some of the major specifications of this model are:

  1. Resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, 720 P
  2. Contrast ratio 5000:1
  3. 170 Degree viewing angle
  4. Digital Natural Image engine for enhanced picture detail
  5. Component inputs include 2 HDMI, component video, S video
  6. Two 10 Watt speakers with SRS Tru Surround
  7. Cold Cathode Fluorescent lamp to provide image color quality

I really like the looks of the Samsung LN-S4692D. It is at a price point where it competes with 50 inch plasma. The main competitors with Samsung 4692 are the Sharp and XBR2. As a consumer, you want to have screen larger than the typical 40 inch screen and you concerned with price, the Samsung LN-S4692D is your choice. The pictures images of the Samsung are crisp. The flesh tones were not too red and the black contrast was good. The blacks were not as good as Panasonic plasma, but they held up very well.

The next step in getting a true 1080P resolution is the Samsung LN-S4695D and LNS-4696D. They are a huge step up in price and may not be worth the extra money. Do you want bigger? The Samsungs also have 52 inch LCD (Samsung LNS-5296) and a huge 57 inch LCD (Samsung LNS-5796). Bring out the check book for those models because it will be a big jump in price to go larger 6 inches or more.
