Samsung LN-S5296D Review

(Suggested retail $ 5,999.99)

This Samsung 52 inch LCD is the first 52 inch model that I have seen any manufacturer has made. Someone was smart at Samsung to recognize consumers want a larger screen than the 46 inch models, so they can compete with the 50 – 60 inch plasma TV who want the thin screen TV in a LCD. Samsung does have a 57 inch version (LN-S5796D) but a lot of consumers can not justify the increase of price of $4,000.00. The LN-S5796D is suggested retail for $ 9,999.99.

The Samsung LN-S5296D has a nice black gloss bezel. In my opinion very sharp looking model. The speakers are hidden on the bottom of the screen. Some of the major specifications of this model are:

  1. Resolution of 1080P through HDMI connection
  2. 12.8 Billion of colors
  3. Contrast ratio 6000:1
  4. 170 Degree viewing angle
  5. Digital Natural Image engine for enhanced picture detail
  6. Component inputs include 2 HDMI, component video, S video
  7. Two 10 Watt speakers with SRS Tru Surround
  8. Cold Cathode Fluorescent lamp to provide image color quality

You can check out the screen on Samsung’s website. To me the next logical step for the people who think the 46inch is not enough is to go to the LN-S5296D. No other competitors have hit the market of 52 inch LCD’s as of this writing. I certainly think that 50 – 60 inch potential plasma buyers will be looking at this alternative technology. I’m sure that buyers who don’t want the reflection of the plasma or potential burn in will surely consider this model. The quality of the picture will not disappoint. I can’t wait to see thing model using the playstation 3.
