Samsung LN52A550P / LN46A550P / LN40A550P Review

The Samsung LN52A550P is one of the hottest offerings in the latest series of LCD sets from world-renowned television manufacturer Samsung. The Series 5 is an exciting foray into the previously unexplored field of LCDs with features that were once exclusive to extremely high-end sets. It is a stunning piece of art that would fit beautifully within any room. The Samsung LN52A550p, LN46A550P, and LN40A550P are sleek and stylish, and their modest black color ensures that they will appear un-intrusive regardless of room décor.

With the rapidly increasing popularity of flat-panel displays, one would be hard-pressed to find a more important recent development in the television industry than the rapidly increasing availability and affordability of high-quality and large (32-inch and greater) displays.

Samsung's Series 5 LCD HDs are built with components normally reserved for sets from premium model lines. By compromising between their top-of-the-line offerings and a hefty reduction in price, Samsung offers an incredibly enticing array of features in what many would consider one of the best deals in the HDTV history.

The Series 5 is slated for release sometime in March of 2008. Consumers will be able to choose from 32 inches (LN32A550P), 37 inches (LN37A550P), 40 inches (LN40A550P), 46 inches (LN46A550P), and 52 inches (LN52A550P).

Features include:

  • 1080p (1920x1080 pixel resolution) LCD Screen
  • SPVA (Super Patterned Vertical Alignment) LCD panel with 178 degree viewing angle
  • Touch-Screen Controls
  • Down-firing Stereo Speakers
  • Three HDMI inputs, one with a USB 2.0 port

The 1080p screen provides the most High-Definition format currently available. SPVA provides an unprecedented picture quality along with unmatched degrees of freedom for the set’s viewing angle.

Samsung LN52A550P / LN46A550P / LN40A550P Review

The Touch-Screen Controls of the Samsung LN52A550P are a revolutionary step in the television display industry that completely eliminates the need for cumbersome side-buttons that have previously served as a staple in set design. The elimination of these buttons from the set serve both an aesthetic and functional purpose, as they reduce the amount of space needed on the set’s frame, resulting in a set that is smaller over-all.

The down-firing stereo speakers is another feature that proves to be quite easy on the eyes as they free up valuable space on the chassis that would normally be filled with bulky, unappealing front-firing speakers. They sound amazing and also have the added bonus of not collecting dust like their front-firing counterparts.

The panel display itself looks stunning. A person unaware of the series or its highly competitive pricing would be hard-pressed to guess that the LN52A550P is anything but an absolute high-end model.

By offering such amazing manufacturing quality at amazingly fair prices, Samsung is easily set to corner the mid-range LCD HDTV market. Consumers have never had more options when it comes to purchasing a moderately priced flat-panel HDTV set, and it would be impossible to go wrong with anything from the Series 5.
