Sharp LC-57D90U Review

(Suggested Retail $16,000)

Bigger is better for some consumers and you have a huge wallet and want the best, this 57 inch monitor is on your shopping lists.  Sharp claims that they sell the two largest LCD televisions in the 65 inch and this 57inch model. The LC-57D90U has impressive specs to say the least; with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and amazing 1500:1 contrast ratio to produce detailed blacks and grey.

Other features that the LC-57D90U has are:

  1. Five wavelength backlight system
  2. Detachable  bottom speakers
  3. Titanium finish body
  4. Digital cable card ready
  5. Built in NTSC, QAM, ATSC tuners
  6. HDMI and 2 component video inputs
  7. Inputs DVI and Firewire IEEE 1394

Sharp has put new feature called the Five-Wavelength systems that enhances color image with deep, vivid greens and reds.    This model, like the others in this 90U series has a thin bezel around the display.   This model also has a cable card feature so you do not have to buy a separate HD tuner unit.  (Also depends if your cable service offers this card)

Again, this is the Ferrari of the 57 inch LCD TV.   If you buy this television, you got to have a special setup to display this baby.  The price as this writing is very steep, but power to you if you can justify the price of this unit.  You may look at other alternatives like 55-60 inch plasma at half of this MSRP price.
