Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR2 Review

(MSRP $3,499)

The Sony KDL-40XBR2 is around $ 800 less than the 46 inch model. Many people will have that dilemma of whether it is worth extra $ 800 buck to get that extra real estate. This is a nice replacement to the XBR1 line. Also you will see the XBR3 models. There are a few differences between the XBR2 and XBR3, that few hundred dollar difference between them. Enthusiasts are really excited with the XBR2 because of the 1080P resolution.

The Sony KDL-40XBR2 is the fashion LCD in the market. You can change the bezel of the bezel of the TV to white, brown, blue, red or velvet black. All those Sony mp3 players with different colors have made Sony push that idea to TV’s. The XBR2 has different kind of style, with a clean rectangle shape with a silver bezel, and an attached floating glass. It looks like Sony has distinctly differentiated the Sony look from others.

Check out the new look here.

The major selling points of the KDL-40XBR2 are:

  1. 1920x1080 pixel with 1080p input using HDMI
  2. Contrast ratio 1300:1
  3. Response time 8 ms
  4. 178 Degree viewing angle
  5. Inputs include 3 HDMI, 2 component, 2 video
  6. ATSC, NTSC, QAM

The Sony KDL-40XBR2 does provide a “wow” factor when people see the picture quality and styling of the unit. As a consumer, you may want to check out other brands such as the Samsung's and Sharp's to get the best comparisons. This Sony has an impressive sharp picture that will not disappoint. Again comparing is believing, so check out the picture to satisfy your questions.
