Sony Bravia KDL-46EX500, KDL-40EX500 Review

The Sony KDL-46EX500 is a great low-budget alternative to Sony’s other larger, costlier sets. With a price-point around $1000, consumers who are in the market for a new HD LCD set at an affordable price should definitely consider the Sony KDL-46EX500 when making their latest purchase. Don’t let the low price tag fool you; the KDL-46EX500 is an excellent product that doesn’t skimp on the features.

The Sony KDL-46EX500’s features include all of the staples that Sony has made standard in their high-definition sets. A 1080p resolution displayed in full HD displays a picture quality that is on par with many high-end sets from Sony and other manufacturers. Edge LED backlighting provides great contrasts for a set that is priced this low, though the deep blacks do leave a bit to be desired at times. The 120hz refresh rate and Blur reduction work just as effectively in the KDL-46EX500 as it does in other sets.

Wi-Fi Adapter Ready capability gives the KDL-46EX500 immediate access to any wireless connections available within your vicinity. Access to media stored on your computer, such as videos, music, or pictures, is readily accessible through this excellent feature. The KDL-46EX500 is ready to be wirelessly connected to your computer right out of the box, and also features an Ethernet port for a direct connection if no wireless is available.

In terms of aesthetic appeal, the KDL-46EX500’s does not deviate from Sony’s standards for their sets. It is very visually appealing, and would accommodate the ambience of any room quite well. It is not as minimalist as other sets due to the contrast between the black screen and a silver lower panel. This may be an issue for those who are extremely concerned with decoration, though for most it will not be enough to compel them to look into the more expensive sets.

The Sony V4100 series is a more budgeted version than the top of the line Z4100 series.  If LCD backlighting is not a big selling point, and 120 hz motion flow is not an issue with you, then the W4100 is what you need.
