Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR2 Review

(MSRP $4,300)

Sony has finally replaced the XBR1 line. They do so with a splash by not also introducing the XBR2 line, but the XBR3 line. Sony is trying to provide the consumer with different lines for different budgets. There are a few differences between the XBR2 and XBR3, that few hundred dollar difference between them. Consumers are really excited with this model because of the major selling points is the 1080P resolution. Of course consumers still have an attachment to the Sony name.

The Sony KDL-46XBR2 is probably the fashion LCD in the market. You can change the bezel of the bezel of the TV to white, brown, red, blue or velvet black. I guess all those mp3’s with different colors has made Sony push that idea to TV’s. The XBR2 has different kind of style, with a clean rectangle shape with a silver bezel, and an attached floating glass. It looks like Sony has distinctly differentiated the Sony look from others.

Check out the new look of the Sony KDL-46XBR2.

The major selling points of the KDL-46XBR2 are:

  1. 1920x1080 pixel with 1080p input using HDMI
  2. Contrast ratio 1300:1
  3. Response time 8 ms
  4. 178 Degree viewing angle
  5. Inputs include 3 HDMI, 2 component, 2 video
  6. ATSC, NTSC, QAM

After seeing the Sony KDL-46XBR2, your first impressions should be the nice stylying. But we should buy the TV for the picture. Sony does not disappoint with outstanding picture quality. Depending on the source of the picture, the corners just look sharp. Is it worth the extra money to get a brand name Sony? I think if you love Sony’s, then the price of the TV is not a major concern and you will flat out love the TV. Now if Sony can come up with a larger model than 46 inch. I think consumers would welcome that choice.
