Sony Bravia KDL-52HX900 Review

The Sony KDL-52HX900 is an incredibly impressive HD LCD set. It is immediately obvious at first glance that this thing is huge. The design is very appealing; it appears as if the set itself has been placed onto a silver bar, with the base of the set inserted into a groove within. The set is tilted at six degrees in this position, and this range can be offset by the viewer in order to slightly change the perspective to whichever they desire. The effects of even the most subtle alterations are quickly apparent when the 3D capabilities of the KDL-52HX900 are used.

The KDL-52HX900 is extremely slim for a 3D set. Viewed in profile, the set looks more like a thin router than a television set. The Edge LED backlight makes this thinness possible. The KDL-52HX900‘s picture quality and color definition is not significantly compromised by this technology, though extremely dark blacks do leave a bit to be desired.

The Motionflow technology gives the KDL-52HX900 incredible performance at 240 Hz. Fast-paced action scenes are displayed fluidly and crisply, without any distortion or blurring at key moments. This is an especially impressive accomplishment in regards to 3D media, and Sony really nailed it with this set. Power consumption can be reduced by LightSensor technology, which has now become standard in Sony’s high-end LCD sets. These sensors adjust the brightness of the set depending on how bright the current environment of the room is.

This is a great set to purchase for those who simply won’t settle for anything other than the most high-end model. The KDL-52HX900 has an impressive room presence, and lends a great deal of influence to room décor even when turned off.
