The Ultimate Sony Theatre featuring the 52-inch Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR5
Thanks to one of our contributors to show off his brand new Sony home theatre. No expense was speared in this environment that was finished off with a custom two day installation.
The ultimate Sony Theatre includes:
1. Sony KDL-52XBR5
Sony KDL-52XBR5 is the top of line 52 inch LCD of the Sony line. Why are we showing off hockey? You can tell by the richness in quality of the picture of white on ice. The Sony uses a 10 bit display to process image quality and color. This Sony TV features 1080 P with the new feature 120 hz motion flow. This produces a smooth motion picture while watching sports or fast action movies.
As a Sony enthusiast, the XBR5 was the only choice. The floating glass is normal with the XBR4 and XBR5 but the glossy piano black bezel gives the LCD tv an extra touch of style. The TV produces stunning pictures but the only downside is the little glare you get on the glossy black border. The KDL-52XBR5 is custom installed in the center wall with all the connections tucked nicely into the wall.
2. Speakers
Speakers include two Energy subwoofers, Energy center channel and four wall mounted Energy front and back wall mounted.
3. Components
There is a complete package of components which includes Sony components. Because this is the ultimate Sony home theatre, how can you go wrong with a Sony blu-ray player (Sony BDP-S1) with displays the image in the full 1080P mode. Although the Sony Playstation 3 is not shown in the picture, a stand alone Sony Blu-Ray player helps the ease of loading disc without too much hassle.
The Sony DA5300ES is the ultimate home theatre surround amp. This is top line addition to the home theatre experience with 6 HDMI 1.3 inputs. All the components are connected to this receiver and fed nicely with the HDM back to the TV. The Sony DA5300ES converts analog signals to HDMI really well. You also get the bells and whistles with this unit including, automatic speaker calibration, Dolby HD, DTS master audio decoding and XM/Sirius ready just to name a few. The Sony DA5300ES had a great user friendly display screen that displays on the TV. Although on the high end of the scale of receivers in the market ($1699.99 retail), it is a must for this ultimate Sony theatre.
The last Sony component is more of convenience. A regular Sony DVD player/VHS player. Just so you can watch your old tapes. I doubt that will happening too much.
The standard Motorola PVR is displayed that brings in the local high definition channels for the cable company.
Conditioners are an excellent way to stabilize the power going to your components. The monster cable MP AVS2000 home theatre voltage stabilizer is a high addition to the ultimate Sony theatre ($1499.99 retail). The MP AVS2000 has three digital meters to monitor the incoming voltage, voltage correction and amperage assuage. The Monster AVS2000 is reviewed as providing enhanced sound, better midrange and more pronounced voice. Also prevents from picture flickering.
The Monster Cable MP HTS 5100 SS Signature series home theatre HTS 5100 MKII power center with clean power stage 4V.2.1 is another high end addition ($799.99 Retail). This cleans up the power and signals.
Overall, this system has punctual sound that is crystal clear with deep base in the front and back of the room. The Sony KDL-52XBR5 brings in a touch of sophistication of class with the glass bezel and black gloss surrounding the screen. With all these high end components, this Ultimate Sony theatre will be the blueprint for more ultimate theatres around the world.
