Sony Bravia KDL-40Z4100 Review
2008 brings a whole new line Sony television. The Sony Bravia Z4100 series is now the top series in the Sony line of LCD products. This line comes in the 40 (KDL-40Z4100) inch size. I’m speculating that another line above this line will be announced in 2008. That line will be, of course, their main style or prestige line - the XBR series. Although 32-inch and 37-inch Sony XBR-6 LCD TVs have been announced, larger screen sizes should be announced soon. Other possibilities such as a Sony 52XBR6 or even a Sony 52XBR7 will show up. The Sony Z4100 series will be the top series for now, which might be an alternative from spending the extra funds for a cosmetically designed XBR series. Why not provide choice? Sony has taken steps to develop different series to attract the flat panel audience.
The KDL 40Z4100 offers a black shiny bezel with a silver bar on the bottom of the LCD TV. Nothing really special about the looks, but specification wise, it has a bunch of features that an enthusiast would be looking for. Some of the major specifications of the KDL-40Z4100 are:
- WCG-CCF backlight
- 120 Mhz Motionflow
- 24p true cinema input
- 1080P resolution
- 4 HDMI and 2 Component inputs
- Digital media for compatibility with some Sony walkman and ipod players.
- Advanced contrast enhancer
This Sony line is for the no-nonsense consumer who is looking for performance rather than a cosmetically great looking TV. This would not be the Sony style that people are looking for, but overall, most don’t care if they just want a Sony. This Sony line also is a 10-bit 1080P LCD that utilizes the new Bravia Engine 2 for image enhancement.
This model is in comparison to the Samsung 5281 and 4681 series with the LCD backlighting. It was latest and greatest technology introduced to consumers in late 2007. The Sony backlighting concept should give more vibrant colors but the main selling feature is blacker blacks. The LCD’s are still trying to bridge the gap with plasma monitors. This Sony Z4100 series does not disappoint in performance, and if you wanting the latest and greatest, this Sony is for you.
