Sony Bravia KLVS40A10 Review

The Sony Bravia produces outstanding picture quality.  The Sony Bravia is not as smooth as watching action movies or sports on a plasma TV, but it is bridging the gap closer than before.  The display resolution is at 1366 x 768.  The speakers are located on the bottom on the unit.

The screen is surrounded by a silver casing.   The problem with a silver casing is that it does not sink in well with the picture as would a black casing.   A black casing produces an illusion of a bigger screen.  If you wanted a black casing, you would have to go with the more expensive Sony Bravia XBR – KDLV40XBR1. This monitor only has one HDMI connector.

This Sony TV is HDTV ready, but does not have a integrated digital ATSC tuner.  You would have to upgrade again to the Sony Bravia XBR – KDLV40XB1.   Probably a mute decision if you have a HDTV box from your local cable or satellite provider.

Conclusion

A lot of consumers swear by Sony and continue purchasing their product.  This Sony TV is stripped down version of the XBR Version.  If you do want a Sony, but not willing to pay for the extra options of the XBR, then the Sony KDLV40XB1 is your choice.

If you do have the extra money, consider buying the XBR version with the extra bells and whistles.  I do think it is worth going finding the extra money to purchase the XBR version.  In my opinion, the black styling looks better than the silver.  Again, all comes to the consumer’s preference.
