Size of the Screen
Is bigger better? It will depend on the size of your room. To determine the size of the LCD screen, measure the distance between your self and where the TV is positioned.
Take these areas of distance as guidelines for the size of the television:
32 inch - 40 inch - 6 - 12 feet
42 inch - 50 inch - 10- 14 feet
50 inch - 60 inch - 12 -16 feet
61 inch - 80 inch - 15 -20 feet
LCD TVs take advantage of movies that are shown in widescreen. When you do watch a normal television broadcast, it will be shown in a 4:3 format, which leaves empty space on both sides of the picture. An example is a 32 inch LCD screen that broadcasts in normal, non high definition broadcast will display the picture in a 26 inch format. That means you lose 6 inches of real estate of your TV. For that reason, you can take that into consideration when choosing the size of the screen.
