Top 10 LCD TVs – 42-inch and lower
Here is a list of LCDs that that are on our top 10 list. Only recently, LCD TV manufacturers have adjusted their 40-inch size to measure up the same to 42-inch plasma TVs. The 40-42 inches LCD TVs seem to be the sweet spot when it comes to pricing. You’ll find that going to a 46-inch and bigger TV will come at a higher marginal price and may leave you scratching your head on whether you can justify the extra 4 inch(s) for that higher price difference.
Here are our top 10 42-inch and lower LCD TV's:
- Sony KDL40XBR2 - Sony means style and big bucks. It is a beautiful looking bezel TV and has amazing image quality. The image possesses the latest 1080p craze. If cost is not a big deal, then the KDL40XBR3 would also be a great option.
- Samsung LNS 4096D - The Samsung 40 came very close to being our number one LCD TV this holiday. This is Samsung’s flagship 40-inch LCD TV and has a beautiful black bezel look, but a sound system that is less than ordinary.
- Sharp Aquos 42D62U – As the brand new entry from Sharp, the Aquos 42D62U provides an extra two inches than the top 2. The new Sharp series provides a great price and good picture. Unfortunately, the initial reports from consumers that have bought the first run Sharp models are saying that color-banding appears in the TV.
- Toshiba 42HL96 – The Toshiba 42 inch is very well priced. Consumers will notice that the Toshiba is not as stylish as the other models, but the picture quality is very decent.
- Samsung LNS 4095D - This Samsung 40inch TV is just a tad less expensive than the LNS 4096D model.
- LG 42PC3D – The 42-inch LCD TV from LG has a nice 2 year warranty. It is nicely built with decent picture
- Sony KDL40S2000 – If you want a Sony that does not have 1080P or price tag associated with the XBR2 or XBR3, then this would be the model of choice.
- Westinghouse LVM42W2 – This budget price model 1080P model from Westinghouse will turn some consumer heads.
- JVC 40FN97 – This JVC 40-inch 1080P model has a black bezel shell. Not the most popular when compared to brands like Sony and Sharp, but comparison shopping is needed if you are looking at this model.
- Samsung LNS4092D – An older attractive model from Samsung that does not have the famed 1080P. If you don’t need a 1080P screen, then this model may be a good choice.
